At LA-LU, a deep appreciation for the natural world drives everything we do. We incorporate sustainable practices into every aspect of our process, striving to minimise our environmental footprint. Our approach is rooted in thoughtful, timeless design, ethical manufacturing, and the use of sustainable materials.

MATERIALS

Eco-friendly materials are central to LA-LU. We carefully source materials with low environmental impact, working closely with our manufacturers to ensure transparency while staying true to our brand’s essence. Each LA-LU piece is packaged in fully biodegradable, plant-based garment bags that contain zero poly plastic. These bags are 100% home-compostable and break down within six months. All sew-in labels and swing tags are made from 100% recycled materials, as well as other garment trims, such as buttons and zippers. Leftover materials and fabrics from previous seasons are repurposed to create sample garments and shapes for future collections.

ORGANIC COTTON

LA-LU uses responsibly sourced organic cotton and cotton blends in several ready-to-wear pieces. Organic cotton is cultivated without synthetic agricultural chemicals, such as fertilisers or pesticides. It requires less water, preserves soil health, and helps prevent soil erosion.

RAMIE

Sourced from the fibre of the Ramie plant, this natural fabric is biodegradable, requires minimal irrigation, and uses few chemical pesticides during growth.

MADE TO MEASURE

LA-LU knit pieces are crafted using fully fashioned techniques, where each garment is knitted to shape and linked at the seams. This method ensures minimal to no yarn waste during the manufacturing process.

REPREVE® & CARVICO®

REPREVE® and CARVICO® are both regenerated nylon yarns made from recycled post-consumer waste, including plastic bottles and discarded fishing nets collected from the ocean. By repurposing these materials, REPREVE® and CARVICO® help divert waste from landfills and reduce the need for virgin resources, significantly lowering the environmental impact of our products.
